Lady Eagles Qualify Three for State, Led by Brooks District Title

The Lady Eagles wrestling team added three more state qualifications to their program record books at the Class 1 District 3 tournament on February 15th in Nevada.

The trio of Juniors Haley Brooks, Macey Greene, and Adasyn Yoder qualified for their third state tournament. To qualify for the state tournament, you must finish top four of your district bracket of 34 schools.

Haley Brooks (50-4) led the way with her third consecutive district championship in the 110lb bracket. In her opening tournament match, Brooks hit her milestone 150th career victory with a pin over Alexis Ilnicky of Warrensburg. Brooks concluded the bracket with a 2nd period fall over Clinton’s Bailey Pack in the finals.

Macey Greene (45-7) finished runner-up in the 120lb bracket. Greene’s run was highlighted by a 4-1 decision win over Eldon’s Malori Edwards in the semifinals. Greene goes to the state tournament as a two-seed for the third consecutive year.

Adasyn Yoder (37-10) also finished as runner-up in the 125-pound bracket. Yoder had a minor upset 4-2 decision win in the semifinals over Jazmyne Blaney of Carl Junction. Yoder looks to add another state medal to her career resume after a 5th place finish last season.

Holden finished 8th out of 34 schools in the district.

Two wrestlers, 140lb Bobbie Diibon and 190lb Taylor Hubbard, fell one win short of state qualification. Also contributing to team points were Hayden Wright, Mila Turpin, Clara Ferguson, and Mccanna Gudde.

The Class 1 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships will take place on February 28th and 29th at Mizzou arena in Columbia.
